While movie and TV productions have restarted in both the US and UK, they are all under the very real risk of closing down if COVID-19 spreads throughout cast and crew. As a result, stringent safety procedures have been enacted across the industry. But that doesn’t mean that they are always followed, as a furious Tom Cruise discovered this week.
Cruise is currently in London shooting Mission Impossible 7 and 8, and he was extremely unimpressed when he saw crew members standing too close to each other. The star’s reaction was an angry one, and it was recorded and leaked to the British newspaper The Sun.
Cruise, who is also a producer on the Mission Impossible series, starts by saying that he wants the production to be the “gold standard” of safety and that the measures that have been put in place are being watched by Hollywood to show productions can operate safely. “I’m on the phone with every f***ing studio at night, insurance companies, producers, and they’re looking at us and using us to make their movies,” he yells. “We are creating thousands of jobs you motherf*****s.”
