The Game Awards attracted over 83 million livestreams in its 2020 incarnation, although we’re still trying to figure out exactly what that metric entails. According to creator Geoff Keighley, viewership was up an impressive 83 per cent year-over-year, and perhaps most impressive of all, it peaked at 8.3 million concurrents. To be fair, that latter number is extremely impressive.
As part of a stats blast, Keighley explained that watch time increased by 129 per cent across Twitch, YouTube, and Facebook Gaming, meaning that it was able to retain viewers better than last year. It was a much punchier show overall, in our opinion – an impressive achievement under the unprecedented circumstances this year.
